Here are my top five British sitcoms - 2010

Here is a list of my favourite British comedies of all time - written by I, George Sibshaw.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Only Fools and Horses

STARRING - DAVID JASON as Del Boy Trotter, NICHOLAS LYNDHURST as Rodney Trotter, LENNARD PEARCE as Grandad, BUSTER MERRYFIELD as Uncle Albert etc.

I still do not think that any comedy can beat OFAH! Its humour has a certain uniqueness which works extremely well.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2. Open all Hours

STARRING - RONNIE BARKER as Albert Arkwright, DAVID JASON as Granville, LYNDA BARON as Nurse Gladys Emmanuel, KATHY STAFF as Mrs Blewett, BARBARA FLYNN as the Milkwoman etc.

I think that this shop-based comedy is extremely well-written. Ronnie Barker and David Jason are two of the best comedy actors in British situation comedy.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3. The Vicar of Dibley

STARRING - DAWN FRENCH as Geraldine, EMMA CHAMBERS as Alice, JAMES FLEET as Hugo, ROGER LLOYD-PACK as Owen etc.

I do really think that this church-based sitcom is one of the best. The humour is excellent.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4. Fawlty Towers

STARRING - JOHN CLEESE as Basil, ANDREW SACHS as Manuel, PRUNELLA SCALES as Sybil, CONSTANCE BOOTH as Polly, BALLARD BERKELEY as Major etc.

I think that Manuel is one of the funniest comedy characters of all time.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5. Last of the Summer Wine

STARRING - BILL OWEN as Compo, PETER SALLIS as Cleggy, BRIAN WILDE as Foggy, MICHAEL BATES as Blamire, MICHAEL ALDRIDGE as Seymour, KATHY STAFF as Nora etc.

This gentle comedy, which follows the lives of three old men, is still a hit even though it finished this year (2010).
