Richard Beckinsale got the idea of becoming a comedy actor when he appeared in a school production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Richard was most famous for his roles as Alan Moore in ITV sitcom Rising Damp (alongside Leonard Rossiter) and Lennie Godber in BBC comedy Porridge (with Ronnie Barker).

Richard became ill and died of a heart attack during his sleep at the age of 31.
